Congratulations: SKILLS' Scouts Attended One Visayas Jamboree

Bayawan City, Negros Oriental - Senior High Scouts from SKILLS attended the 3 rd  One Visayas Jamboree last October 20-29, 2017, with this year’s theme:” Growth and Stability.” This Jamboree is a large gathering of Scouts that aims at providing Boy Scouts with opportunity to experience outdoor life in an environment of cooperation, friendship, and camaraderie where they will learn to work together to overcome difficulties and to grow in critical thinking, judgment, and decision-making skills that will last a lifetime. Towards the week-long Jamboree , our Senior Highs Scouts namely: Chief Scout Rocky Daclan and S2 Jimmyl Otom bagged the 1 st  Runner Up for the Gate Campfire and Grand Camp Fire Championship. Kudos for making your SKILLS family proud!

Strong Work Group: Empowering Women

Primary Structures Educational Foundation Incorporated has been instrumental in helping women realize their potential, inspiring them to go beyond their limits, improving their quality of life and pursue their dreams of a better and brighter future.  O ne of its flagship programs on women empowerment. The foundation opened the 2nd batch of Strong Work Group for Women Project that aims to train and certify women in non-traditional program particularly on construction work as well as empowers women by providing technical skills in the construction trade and mainstream them in a male-dominated industry, thereby helping them to earn a livable wage and be able to support their family and children and develop dignity at work.   The training program will allow fifteen (15) women beneficiaries to acquire multi-skills in Carpentry NC II, Masonry NC II, Tile Setting NC II and Plumbing NC II from Sept. 4, 2017, to  February 2018 . SKILLS Tech Voc Senior High Celebrates Buwan ng Wika: "Wikang Mapagbago"

SKILLS Senior High School Tech Voc celebrated Buwan ng Wika at SKILLS campus last August 2017 with this year's theme: " Wikang Mapagbago."  Wikang  Mapagbago  evokes Filipino dignity and patriotism as citizens of our beloved Philippines. It separates us from other nations, cultures and races. Filipino culture is enriched with a diverse custom and ethnicity yet unified as one; one country, one hope, one dream. Wikang Mapagbago reflects on Filipino flexibility to global change and innovation yet keeping at heart the Filipino spirit. The event  was perpetuated with a series of activities. Filipino games like "palo sebo" and "patintero" were played by teachers and students.  Showcased at the event were the different Filipino festivities, dances, and  beauty pageants. The celebration aimed to indulge the students on the values and traditions our country and the beauty of being part of such a multifaceted tradition.

Primay Home Run: Run to Build Their Future

Primary Home Run is a yearly fundraising affair spearheaded by Primary Homes Inc. in cooperation with Primary Structures Educational Foundation, Inc. This year's theme: "Run, Dance and Conquer. Run to Build Their Future" seeks to generate funds to support the Senior High School Program of SKILLS.  The event kicked off at 4am on  July 2 , 2017, at Cebu Business Park. More than 1,400 runners signed up for the event with the bulk of the participants competing in the three-kilometer, six-kilometer, and twelve-kilometer distance. A dded challenges for  this year's runners were a number of obstacles placed along the route. The twelve-kilometer distance runners went uphill with their route’s turning point located near Marco Polo Hotel in Nivel Hills, Lahug.  Cash prizes were given to the top three finishers in each distance while non-winners won raffle prizes during the awarding ceremonies. Run 2 Plant on Arbor Day 2017

Trees are like the lungs of the planet. They breathe in carbon dioxide and breathe out      oxygen. Planting trees are one of the easiest and most sustainable ways to affect the environment. June 17 , 2017, marked the event with an  early morning run by some staffs from Autoclave Aerated Concrete Lightweight Block Corp. (ABC),  Primary Structures Educational Foundation Incorporated-School of Knowledge for Industrial Labor Leadership and Services' staffs as well as Senior High Scouts  and some Local Government of the City of Naga Cebu. The run kicked off at Naga City Hall passing Barangay Taghaguimit towards their destination in celebration of:  Run 2 Plant on Arbor Day  at NAVA City of Naga Cebu.  The event was signified through a  Tree Planting Program organized by Autoclave Aerated Concrete Lightweight Block Corp. Senior High School Scouts Investiture Held at Naga Valley Industrial Park

We would like to congratulate our Senior High School Scouts who had their Investiture Ceremony yesterday, May 29, 2017, Monday, at the Naga Valley Industrial Park in Brgy. Cantao-an, City of Naga, Cebu. SKILLS' SHS Scouts has been officially registered with Unit Number RS-95.  Joining the scouts in their investiture were Dr. Eunice B. Raz, Academic Director, Mr. Marben C. Manabat, Head Scout Master and SHS trainer, and Mr. Gerard Paul Sentillas, Company Nurse of the Primary Group of Builders. Our SHS scouts started their Advancement Training Course since May 15, 2017 and will officially end on June 3, 2017, the weekend before the first day of school starts on June 5, 2017.  Way to go, scouts! Keep the SKILLS flame burning!

PSEFI-SKILLS at the 45th General Assembly of the Association of Foundations in Manila

During the 45th General Assembly of the Association of Foundations Makati City, Metro Manila --- The Association of Foundations (AF), one of the newest organizations which PSEFI-SKILLS joined as a member, convened its 45th General Assembly last May 22-23, 2017 (Sun-Mon) at the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) Center in Makati City. PSEFI-SKILLS' COO, Mrs. Paulette D. Liu, and Dr. Maritess H. Requina, Executive Director, represented the foundation in the said event. Induction of new members of AF           Mrs. Liu joined the induction of new members which was one of the highlights of the two-day program. Other activities that transpired were the Executive Officers' Meeting, a forum on the thematic poverty alleviation activities of the Zero Extreme Poverty by the Year 2030 (ZEP2030) Movement, a networking exercise, and a business meeting where the network's new 5-Year Strategic Plan was approved.

K to 12 Plus BMZ Head Visits SKILLS

Ma'am Paulette (4th from right) with our our German visitors Cebu City --- PSEFI-SKILLS welcomed German visitor Dr. Leo Kreuz, Unit Head of the K to 12 Plus Project of BMZ last May 24, 2017, Wednesday, He was brought by our friends from AFOS Foundation for Entrepreneurial Development Cooperation. Dr. Kreuz met our COO, Mrs. Paulette D. Liu, about the pilot implementation of the Senior High School (SHS) and K to 12 Plus Program since PSEFI-SKILLS was the technical-vocational institute chosen to run specific training programs for the construction sector by AFOS Foundation. The pilot class of the SHS program in SKILLS graduated last month. The students all come from Zapatera National High School located at Brgy. Zapatera, Cebu City. Dr. Kreuz was given a tour of SKILLS' training laboratories: Welding, Construction, Hospitality Training Center which includes the Household Services, Housekeeping and Hilot Wellness Massage training facilities.

Senior High School Scouting: Looking Back, Moving Forward!

Team building at the Naga Valley Industrial Park (NAVA) Cebu City --- PSEFI-SKILLS has committed itself to promote resilience and resourcefulness among its Senior High School students when it first launched Scouting last year, May 16, 2016. PSEFI-SKILLS and AFOS' Pilot Class Graduate from Senior High School

Cebu City --- April 7, 2017, Friday, was a prodigious day for us in PSEFI-SKILLS as we witnessed nineteen (19) of our Pilot Class Senior High School (Grade 12) students graduate from four (4) construction trades: Carpentry NC II, Masonry NC II, Tile Setting NC II and Plumbing NC II. PSEFI-SKILLS is the first tech-voc institution in the country to pilot the Senior High School (SHS) Program for the Tech-Voc Track under the construction sector. This special project is in partnership the Department of Education's (DepEd) Cebu City Division Office, the AFOS Foundation for Entrepreneurial Development Cooperation as funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Zapatera National High School and the Cebu Contractor's Association. Training for Work Scholarship Program: Hilot Wellness Massage NC II Summer Course

We have a new set of students for the Hilot Wellness Massage NC II course, classes of which kicked-off on April 25, 2017, Tuesday, with Mr. Marison Donaire, RN, as instructor. The classes officially end on May 10, 2017, Wednesday. We have a total of twenty-three (23) students enrolled in the program, 9 of whom are Deaf. We are grateful to the Gualandi Mission for the Deaf, with Rev. Fr. Donald Abiichinomso as point-person, for making it possible for their Deaf beneficiaries to take part in this training program. Mainstreaming the Deaf in technical-vocational instruction is considered to be a big achievement in any educational institution. It is the right of every Filipino to pursue and continue his or her education. Living to its vision of providing globally competent Filipino workers equipped with knowledge and skills, the Primary Group of Builders (PGB) created and established the Bunkhouse Intensive Literacy Development Program or BUILD. Workers of Primary Structures Corporation (PSC) are offered this great program that helps them continue their studies. This is a preparation for students to pass the Accreditation and Equivalency Test and a step closer to their dreams. DepEd Representative Visits SKILLS Senior High School Training Laboratories

At the Hilot Wellness Massage laboratory We welcomed Mr. John Paul Lesondato, official representative of the Department of Education (DepEd) Region VII here in SKILLS campus last March 22, 2017, in order to conduct an inspection of the school's training laboratories and facilities. This is in line with the Senior High School program which was launched last school year 2016-2017. Mr. Lesondato was toured around the school by Dr. Eunice B. Raz, SKILLS Senior High School (SHS) Academic Director, and Ms. Angiela Castillo, Head Teacher. They visited the Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) Welding laboratory, the Hilot Wellness Massage facility, the Housekeeping laboratory, and the SHS classrooms. PSEFI-SKILLS Supported the Global Run for Deaf Women and Children at SM Seaside City Cebu

With Rob Gomm (2nd from left), PADS' Global Run organizer Cebu City --- PSEFI-SKILLS actively supported the Global Run for Persons With Disabilities, organized by the Philippine Accessible Disability Services, Inc. (PADS). Dubbed as, "Break the Silence: Global Run," PADS hosted "approximately 10,000 global change-makers of all abilities and ages to participate in this fun run, in cities around the world," said its press release. In another press release, PADS stated that, "Our goal isn't to break world records. Instead, our goal is to generate a wave of awareness across the globe which will contribute to the eradication of the sexual abuse of Deaf women and children."  Ms. Michelle S. TESDA Ambassadress and PSEFI-SKILLS Graduate Represents the Country in APEC's Workshop in Thailand
