PSEFI-SKILLS Celebrates Buwan ng Wikang Filipino

The Filipino Department of SKILLS' Senior High School organized a month-long celebration highlighting the month of August as National Language Month. We would like to commend Mrs. Angiela Castillo, head teacher, with Mr. Marison Donaire, PEHM teacher, for being on top of the different activities which ran the whole month of August.

Last August 31, 2016, we had a whole day celebration here in SKILLS campus where the students played Filipino games, showcased Filipino food via Barrio Fiesta over lunch, and participated in different competitions: Sabayang Pagbigkas, Lakambini at Lakan, Katutubong Sayaw and Filipino Trivia interspersed in the program.


Our COO, Mrs. Paulette D. Liu, graced the event and witnessed the different talents of our Senior
High School students from the following troops: Sage, Lagundi, Thyme and Basil. We would like to congratulate Dr. Eunice B. Raz, our Academic Director, for a very successful outcome of the Buwan ng Wika celebration!

Following are some excerpts from the Welcome Remarks (Pambungad na Pananalita) delivered by Marketing and Project Officer, Ms. Michelle C. Salon:

Filipino: Wika ng Karunungan, ang tema ng ating pagdiriwang. Ipinahihiwantig nito na sa paggamit natin ng ating sariling wika, ang salitang Filipino, makatutulong ito sa ating pagkakaroon ng angkop na karunungan na siyang magbibigay-daan sa ating pag-unlad bilang isang bansa. Ngunit kung titingnan natin ang kasalukuyang sitwasyon, sa heograpikal na aspeto, ang Pilipinas ay isang arkipelago. Tayo'y binubuo ng isang libo't isang raan at pitong isla. Kalat-kalat at watak-watak. May natatanging kultura sa bawat rehiyon, at kaugnay nito, may natatanging salitang ginagamit sa pang-araw-araw. Bagamat iba't-iba, sari-sari at may kani-kaniyang dialekto, tayo ay nagsusumikap pa ring magkaisa sa pamamagitan ng paggamit ng wikang Filipino. Ito ay mahalagang pag-aralan at pagtiyagaang matutunan. Ang pinakamahalagang elemento sa pakikipagtalastasan ay ang masiguro nating tayo ay naiintindihan ng ating kinakausap. Sa ganitong paraan, ang interaksyon ay makahulugan at makabuluhan. May karunungang natamo kay "nakasabot ka."

May mga paghamon tayong hinaharap sa ngayon. Bawat isa sa atin ay may sari-sariling paghihirap na kailangang gawan ng paraan upang masolusyunan. Magdesisyon tayo upang itama ang mga pagkakamaling ating nagawa. Magsimulang muli. Habang tayo ay nabubuhay, may tunay na pag-asa. Binigyan ka ng Diyos ng talino, gamitin mo ito. Sa inyong pag-aaral ngayon dito sa SKILLS Senior High School, may pagkakataon kayong maitama ang inyong mga yapak upang tumungo sa landas na magbibigay sa inyo ng saya at sagana. Ang klase ng saya at saganang dulot ng wastong halimbawa, sipag at tiyaga sa lahat ng oras.


Mula ngayon, magpatuloy kayo sa inyong nasimulan ng may kaukulang pagmamahal sa Diyos, respeto at malasakit sa kapwa. magsimula tayo sa ating pamilya, dito sa ating paaralan, at sa ating komunidad. Mapalakas nawa tayo ng mabuting halimbawa at ng kaukulang tulong na magmumula sa ating pananalig sa Diyos at sa pagsisikap na gamitin ng wasto ang panahong ibinigay sa inyo upang mag-aral dito sa SKILLS sa loob ng dalawang taon.

2017: Hilot Wellness Massage NC II Training for Senior High School Students

Cebu City --- We started the new year 2017 with two groups undergoing extensive training in Hilot Wellness Massage NC II. Our Grade 11 Senior High School students and the scholars of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), kicked-off the year with lectures, practical demonstration and on-the-job training about Hilot Wellness. Mr. Marben C. Manabat, RN, is the one on top of this tech-voc training. Our DSWD scholars set-up their Hilot Wellness facility in two venues: Circa 1900-Casa Dos, a restaurant located in Sanjercasville, Lahug, Cebu City, and at 2 Quad Building in Cebu Business Park. The student-trainees will be giving free massage to the guests, clients, employees of the said establishments. On the one hand, our Grade 11 students will need more time to practice Hilot skills in the Wellness Laboratory of the Hospitality Training Center here in SKILLS. SKILLS SHS BUWAN NG WIKA CELEBRATION 2018

With this year’s theme,  “Filipino: Wika ng Saliksik” , SKILLS Inc. commemorated the Buwan ng Wikang Pambansa in August. It was celebrated with a variety of exciting and fun  “Larong Pinoy”.  Students played different Filipino games every Monday. To showcase the creativity of the senior high school students, a poster making and an essay writing contest were held simultaneously on August 17, 2018.   The month-long celebration culminated in a very festive mood with four major activities on August 31, 2018. In the morning, the “ Paluan ng Palayok ”  played as one of the “ Larong Pinoy ”. Classrooms were embellished with typical decorations to depict the “ Fiesta sa Nayon ”, as each class section prepared an assortment of native Filipino food and competed in the “ Unahan sa Pagkain ng Balut ” contest. A presentation of different Filipino folk dances, “ SKILLS Galing OPM ” contest and the  “Gandang Pinay at Gwapong Pinoy 2018”  was held in the afternoon   to conclude the Buwan ng
