PSEFI joins ZEP 2030 Education Cluster Meeting


The Association of Foundation convened the Education Cluster of the Zero Extreme Poverty by 2030 Movement for its first meeting and learning session for 2018. Seventeen (17) organizations participated in the Cluster meeting held on February 23, 2018 at the Assisi Development Foundation conference hall, Strata 2000, Pasig City. The group included local convenors for Sumilao, Bukidnon (Del Monte Foundation, Inc.), Sarangani (Conrado and Ladislawa Alcantara Foundation, Inc. and Sarangani Province Empowerment and Community Transformation Forum, Inc.), Lanao del Norte (Ayala Foundation, Inc.), Cebu (Coalition for Better Education), and Antipolo, Rizal (Smart Communications, Inc.). The Education Cluster's work plan for 2018 was approved, and mapping of families has already started in some of the pilot areas.

The Zero Extreme Poverty 2030 movement is a product of the Poverty Summit in 2015 with the theme "Building Pathways in Reducing Poverty and Inequality". The Poverty Summit formulated its vision for the Philippines by 2030: "A Philippines where every Filipino enjoys the necessary goods that define and sustain human dignity, life, security, and engaged citizenship".  In pursuit of this Vision, a 15-year Agenda to eradicate poverty and inequality in the country was formulated broken into three0year doable action plans. Eight themes were identified: (a) Health; (b) Education; (c) Environment; (d) Livelihood and Employment; (e) Agriculture and Fisheries; (f) Housing and Shelter; (g) Peace and Human Security; (h) Social Justice. These thematic areas shall serve as the groupings for focused, multisector, collective action to tackle specific dimensions of poverty and inequality.

2017: Hilot Wellness Massage NC II Training for Senior High School Students

Cebu City --- We started the new year 2017 with two groups undergoing extensive training in Hilot Wellness Massage NC II. Our Grade 11 Senior High School students and the scholars of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), kicked-off the year with lectures, practical demonstration and on-the-job training about Hilot Wellness. Mr. Marben C. Manabat, RN, is the one on top of this tech-voc training. Our DSWD scholars set-up their Hilot Wellness facility in two venues: Circa 1900-Casa Dos, a restaurant located in Sanjercasville, Lahug, Cebu City, and at 2 Quad Building in Cebu Business Park. The student-trainees will be giving free massage to the guests, clients, employees of the said establishments. SKILLS SHS BUWAN NG WIKA CELEBRATION 2018

With this year’s theme,  “Filipino: Wika ng Saliksik” , SKILLS Inc. commemorated the Buwan ng Wikang Pambansa in August. It was celebrated with a variety of exciting and fun  “Larong Pinoy”.  Students played different Filipino games every Monday. To showcase the creativity of the senior high school students, a poster making and an essay writing contest were held simultaneously on August 17, 2018.   The month-long celebration culminated in a very festive mood with four major activities on August 31, 2018. In the morning, the “ Paluan ng Palayok ”  played as one of the “ Larong Pinoy ”. Classrooms were embellished with typical decorations to depict the “ Fiesta sa Nayon ”, as each class section prepared an assortment of native Filipino food and competed in the “ Unahan sa Pagkain ng Balut ” contest.
