Senior High School Scouting: Looking Back, Moving Forward!

Team building at the Naga Valley Industrial Park (NAVA) Cebu City --- PSEFI-SKILLS has committed itself to promote resilience and resourcefulness among its Senior High School students when it first launched Scouting last year, May 16, 2016. This project was proposed and implemented by no less than Primary Structures Corporation's President, Mr. William Liu, Jr. The student-participants were chosen during their enrollment after the interview conducted by SKILLS' Student Affairs Officer. First-aid training The scouts' training started with an orientation about the vision-mission of the school, an overview of the organizational chart of scouting, and the students' responsibilities. PSEFI-SKILLS and AFOS' Pilot Class Graduate from Senior High School

Cebu City --- April 7, 2017, Friday, was a prodigious day for us in PSEFI-SKILLS as we witnessed nineteen (19) of our Pilot Class Senior High School (Grade 12) students graduate from four (4) construction trades: Carpentry NC II, Masonry NC II, Tile Setting NC II and Plumbing NC II. PSEFI-SKILLS is the first tech-voc institution in the country to pilot the Senior High School (SHS) Program for the Tech-Voc Track under the construction sector. This special project is in partnership the Department of Education's (DepEd) Cebu City Division Office, the AFOS Foundation for Entrepreneurial Development Cooperation as funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Zapatera National High School and the Cebu Contractor's Association. Training for Work Scholarship Program: Hilot Wellness Massage NC II Summer Course

We have a new set of students for the Hilot Wellness Massage NC II course, classes of which kicked-off on April 25, 2017, Tuesday, with Mr. Marison Donaire, RN, as instructor. The classes officially end on May 10, 2017, Wednesday. We have a total of twenty-three (23) students enrolled in the program, 9 of whom are Deaf. We are grateful to the Gualandi Mission for the Deaf, with Rev. Fr. Donald Abiichinomso as point-person, for making it possible for their Deaf beneficiaries to take part in this training program. Mainstreaming the Deaf in technical-vocational instruction is considered to be a big achievement in any educational institution. The official Deaf interpreter for the whole training duration provided by Gualandi was Bro. Romnick. TESDA Ambassadress and PSEFI-SKILLS Graduate Represents the Country in APEC's Workshop in Thailand

The participants to the APEC workshop held in Bangkok, Thailand PSEFI-SKILLS' very own graduate, Ms. Myrna Pitaluna-Alngog, represented the country via the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) as its Ambassadress for tech-voc training opportunities for women. Cebu City --- We were fortunate to have been featured once more over at DYKC-Kusog Cebu's Tinubdan sa Kalambuan radio program (675 KHz) of Mr. Jefferson "Ka Jeffrox" Cal and Ms. "A" Angus yesterday, February 9, 2017, Thursday, with Engr. Steve Y. Banzon, our Technical Training Director, and Dr. Eunice B. Raz, Academic Director, as special guests. We were given almost an hour of air time promoting PSEFI-SKILLS' Tech-Voc and Senior High School Programs. Engr. Banzon and Dr. Raz talked about how students, i.e. Grade 10 finishers, out-of-school youth can avail of free education and training to be a certified tech-voc graduate through PSEFI-SKILLS' Senior High School offerings under the Industrial Arts and Home Economics programs. PSEFI-SKILLS' Training Partnership with the Municipality of Argao: Hilot, Housekeeping and Electrical Installation and Maintenance

SKILLS graduates who took up Hilot, Housekeeping and EIM Argao, Cebu --- We had a total of sixty-four (64) successful trainees for the mobile training in Hilot Wellness Massage NC II, Housekeeping NC II and Electrical Installation & Maintenance NC II conducted from October to December 2016 in the Municipality of Argao. Our trainees graduated last January 25, 2017, Wednesday at the Argao Sports Complex. With them were other finishers from the Cebu Technological University-Argao who took up Dressmaking, Bread & Pastry Production and Cookery. The graduation was graced by Hon. Stanley S. Caminero, municipal mayor of Argao, together with Mr. Dexter Gimena, Regional Convergence Coordinator of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), representing DSWD's Regional Director Ma. Promoting PSEFI-SKILLS at RPN's DYKC-Kusog Cebu Program

Salon, Marketing and Project Officer, were the guests of Mr. Jeffrey "Ka Jeffrox" Cal, radio program host of Tinubdan sa Kalamboan (Spring of Success) 675 KHz last May 20, 2016, Friday, to promote SKILLS' Senior High School program and the Tech-Voc Scholarships that are being offered this school year. The show is aired from Mondays to Fridays, at 2-3 pm. School enrollment for Senior High is still ongoing this week of May 30-June 3. Classes begin on June 6, Monday. There are already about 160 students enrolled in the program. Meanwhile, SKILLS continues to look for qualified applicants for its Tech-Voc scholarships sponsored by TESDA. PUM Netherlands and PSEFI-SKILLS' International Massage Training

Primary Structures Educational Foundation, Inc. (PSEFI) was very fortunate to have been granted a senior expert from PUM Netherlands, Ms. Janny Berends, who arrived here in Cebu on the last week of March in order to conduct a Beauty and Wellness Training on International Massage for two weeks. Training started in SKILLS campus last April 4 (Monday) and ended on April 15 (Friday). PUM Netherlands is an international, non-profit organization established by the Dutch Employers' Federation with financial support from the Kingdom of the Netherlands' Ministry of Foreign Affairs. They have assisted over 35,000 organizations worldwide through technical experts who have large networks in the business world, plus extensive international experience. Tuburan's Training for Work Scholarship Program Scholars (TWSP) Finish Housekeeping NC II

Tuburan scholars with PSEFI-SKILLS Management and Staff Twenty-five (25) scholars from the Municipality of Tuburan graduated from their Housekeeping NC II course last March 21, 2016, Monday, held at the Tuburan Sports Complex. This was the 24th Culminating Activity of PSEFI-SKILLS. The graduates are all scholars of the Training for Work Scholarship Program (TWSP) spearheaded by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA). Tuburan Mayor, Hon. Democrito Diamante, was represented by Municipal Administrator, Mr. Roy Talaugon. PSEFI-SKILLS was headed by Dr. Maritess H. Requina, Executive Director and Engr. Steve Y. 27 PSEFI-SKILLS Housekeeping NC II Students from the Municipality of Dalaguete Pass TESDA's NC II Assessment

The students with Ms. Pura Arriola of TESDA There were twenty-seven (27) PSEFI-SKILLS Housekeeping students from the Municipality of Dalaguete who recently passed TESDA's NC II assessment, held at the Housekeeping laboratory of SKILLS campus last February 22-24, 2016. TESDA Assessor, Ms. Pura S. Arriola, conducted the said assessment. This three-day activity was facilitated by Mr. Marben C. Manabat and Ms. Juliet Labora, trainers of the Hospitality Training Center (HTC). These students from Dalaguete started their Housekeeping training last December 7, 2015, and were deployed for On-the-Job Training in selected tourism establishments here in Cebu City. And the good news is that all 27 students passed the Housekeeping NC II assessment! Congratulations, students! You made us and the Municipality of Dalaguete really proud! The graduation of our Housekeeping NC II students will be held tomorrow, March 10, 2016, Thursday, 1:00 pm at the Multipurpose Hall of Dalaguete.
