Teachers’ Day Celebration

SKILLS, INC. joined the celebration of the 2018 National Teachers’ Month and National Teachers’ Day/World Teachers’ Day  from September 5 to October 5, 2018 with the theme, “Gurong Pilipino: Turo Mo, Kinabukasan Ko”. With the support of the school President, Ms. Paulette D. Liu, the school supervisor and the student leaders worked together in preparing for a surprise program to honor the teachers and trainers of SKILLS. Student presentations were all set as well as letters, cards, flowers, and messages of thanks before the culmination day.

In the morning of October 5, a Holy Mass was offered by Fr. Thomas Dunton of St. John (DS) to bless all the teachers and trainers. At exactly, 10:05 AM, SKILLS joined the simultaneous recitation of the “Prayer for Teachers” or the “Panalangin Para sa mga Guro” in celebration of the National Teachers’ Month. After the mass, our monthly values formation activity was conducted and was attended by all students from Grades 11 and 12 together with our Guidance Counselor, Academic Director, Teachers and Trainers.

The celebration continued in the afternoon with the surprise program.  An inspiring message from the Academic Director, Dr. Eunice Raz, and the showing of a heart-warming video,   “A Heart of a Teacher” made the event more meaningful.    The students expressed gratitude to their teachers through rendition of songs, poems and dances. Tokens of appreciation in the form of gifts and flowers were also presented to the teachers. In appreciation of the teachers’ hard work and diligent service, the students sincerely said “Thank You” in unison which also highlighted the event.
Aside from taking a break from their classroom duties, the teachers, trainers and staff enjoyed a simple get-together and relished the free body and foot massage at the SKILLS Hilot Wellness Club. It was indeed a day of thankfulness and awareness of the positive influences of teachers on Filipino learners.
