Jobstart Philippines Partners with Primary Structures Corporation and PSEFI-SKILLS

Jobstart Philippines, a program of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the Department of Manpower Development and Placement (DMDP) Cebu , has partnered with Primary Structures Corporation (PSC) and SKILLS. The Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) was signed today, August 13, 2016, here in SKILLS Campus. Jobstart Philippines is a collaboration between DOLE, the Asian Development Bank and the Government of Canada.

Partnering with the private sector, Jobstart Philippines helps employers meet their manpower needs with well-prepared, talented, and enthusiastic young men and women.


Mrs. Paulette D. Liu, COO, and Engr. Steve Y. Banzon, Technical Training Director, conducted the site tour of SKILLS campus' training laboratories: Construction Workshop area, Household Services, Housekeeping and Hilot Wellness Massage practical training areas.

Members of the media came to cover the MOA signing ceremony. Primary Structures Corporation's (PSC) Human Resources Department was mainly represented by Mr. James Anthony Villalon, HR Director. Mr. Fidel Magno of DMDP-Cebu gave the Welcome Address. Ms. Ma. Suzanne Ardosa of DMDP-Cebu expounded on the Jobstart Overview & Introduction of Jobstarters. Ma'am Paulette presented PSEFI-SKILLS, followed by a message from DOLE Director Exequiel Sarcauga. Dr. Maritess H. Requina, PSEFI-SKILLS' Executive Director, gave the Closing Remarks of the event.

With this new partnership, we look forward to helping a lot of Filipinos --- future students and employees --- who are equipped and well-trained to meet the challenges that await them in becoming the outstanding professionals of the construction and hospitality sectors.

2017: Hilot Wellness Massage NC II Training for Senior High School Students

Cebu City --- We started the new year 2017 with two groups undergoing extensive training in Hilot Wellness Massage NC II. Our Grade 11 Senior High School students and the scholars of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), kicked-off the year with lectures, practical demonstration and on-the-job training about Hilot Wellness. Mr. Marben C. Manabat, RN, is the one on top of this tech-voc training. Our DSWD scholars set-up their Hilot Wellness facility in two venues: Circa 1900-Casa Dos, a restaurant located in Sanjercasville, Lahug, Cebu City, and at 2 Quad Building in Cebu Business Park. The student-trainees will be giving free massage to the guests, clients, employees of the said establishments. On the one hand, our Grade 11 students will need more time to practice Hilot skills in the Wellness Laboratory of the Hospitality Training Center here in SKILLS. SKILLS SHS BUWAN NG WIKA CELEBRATION 2018

With this year’s theme,  “Filipino: Wika ng Saliksik” , SKILLS Inc. commemorated the Buwan ng Wikang Pambansa in August. It was celebrated with a variety of exciting and fun  “Larong Pinoy”.  Students played different Filipino games every Monday. To showcase the creativity of the senior high school students, a poster making and an essay writing contest were held simultaneously on August 17, 2018.   The month-long celebration culminated in a very festive mood with four major activities on August 31, 2018. In the morning, the “ Paluan ng Palayok ”  played as one of the “ Larong Pinoy ”. Classrooms were embellished with typical decorations to depict the “ Fiesta sa Nayon ”, as each class section prepared an assortment of native Filipino food and competed in the “ Unahan sa Pagkain ng Balut ” contest.
