PSEFI-SKILLS Celebrates the 20th Year of the League of Corporate Foundations in Manila

PSEFI-SKILLS, one of the newest members of the League of Corporate Foundations (LCF), joined in the 20th year LCF celebration in Manila last July 13-15, 2016, actively participating in the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Expo and Conference. LCF, a network of over 80 grant-making corporate foundations and corporations, marked its 20th anniversary and commitment to achieving the sustainable development goals (SDGs) at its annual expo on July 14-15 held at the Rizal Ballroom A and B of Makati Shangri-la Hotel in Makati City. With the theme, "Co-Creating the Future through CSR," the 15th CSR Expo and Conference was both a celebration and call to action for the local business community to support the SDGs adopted by world leaders at a United Nations summit last year. LINK Center for the Deaf Visits PSEFI-SKILLS' Industry Partners and their Gualandi Mission for the Deaf Scholars

With our Gualandi-LINK scholars at the Gualandi Effata School with LINK Center staff Lesley (seated, middle), Jackie (seated, 3rd from right) and Dianne (seated, 3rd from left) Cebu City --- LINK Center for the Deaf, PSEFI-SKILLS' education partner in furthering the school's advocacy to train the Deaf in technical-vocational courses, visited seven (7) industry partners from the tourism sector to do a week-long evaluation and monitoring of the Gualandi-LINK scholars' progress last June 14-19, 2016, months after they graduated from the Housekeeping NC II course and passed the assessment of TESDA. Ms. Carol Ui, President of LINK, sent three of their staff to conduct the said evaluation. Canadian Welding Bureau Graduate Makes It to Winnipeg, Canada!

Batch 1 Canadian Welding Bureau graduate, Arnolfo Malinao Cebu City --- One of PSEFI-SKILLS' Batch 1 graduate who formed part of the Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) Program, Arnolfo Malinao, finally left for Winnipeg, Canada, to work as a welder last May 25, 2016. This is really good news for the school as it paves the way for more CWB graduates who seek greener pastures in North America. Arnolfo relates his CWB journey Arnolfo studied here in SKILLS from 2012-2013 and gained work experience as a contractual worker for two years. In the featured video, Arnolfo relates how he was buoyed up by his desire to work abroad, to support his family, and so he persevered in his training here in SKILLS for eight (8) full months, as he learned the following specialized welding skills: Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), Flux Cord Arc Welding (FCAW), Plasma Cutting, Gouging, Brazing --- all these were taught in keeping with Canadian standards. Promoting PSEFI-SKILLS at RPN's DYKC-Kusog Cebu Program

Mr. Jeffrey Cal (middle) with Dr. Cabangon and Ms. Michelle Salon Mandaue City --- Dr. Bobby M. Cabangon, PSEFI-SKILLS' Academic Director, and Ms. Michelle C. Salon, Marketing and Project Officer, were the guests of Mr. Jeffrey "Ka Jeffrox" Cal, radio program host of Tinubdan sa Kalamboan (Spring of Success) 675 KHz last May 20, 2016, Friday, to promote SKILLS' Senior High School program and the Tech-Voc Scholarships that are being offered this school year. The show is aired from Mondays to Fridays, at 2-3 pm. School enrollment for Senior High is still ongoing this week of May 30-June 3. Classes begin on June 6, Monday. There are already about 160 students enrolled in the program. Meanwhile, SKILLS continues to look for qualified applicants for its Tech-Voc scholarships sponsored by TESDA. A Quest Hotel Initiative: Basic Sign Language Classes in Partnership with Gualandi Mission for the Deaf

Dennis (right) of Gualandi  May 11, 2016, Cebu City --- Quest, one of PSEFI-SKILLS' hotel partners, organized a one-day Basic Sign Language Class for their hotel employees and staff held at the Armstrong Hall, 6th floor of Quest Hotel and Conference Center. Conducting the training was Bro. Dennis Libarnes of the Gualandi Mission for the Deaf. Presently, Quest has six (6) deaf-mute Housekeeping NC II graduates who were all scholars of the PSEFI-SKILLS, Gualandi-LINK Center for the Deaf partnership. There were 2 sessions of the basic sign language class, morning and afternoon. We were very fortunate to have been given 3 slots per session for free. Community Clean-Up Drive at Minglanilla and Naga City, Cebu: A PSEFI Partnership With PSC's Manufacturing Department

PSEFI-SKILLS' staff had an enriching morning two Saturdays ago, May 7, 2016, along with the members of Primary Structures Corporation's (PSC) Manufacturing Department (MD) who organized this community clean-up drive, the second corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative for this year. The destination for this CSR was the riverside of Guindaruhan, Minglanilla, Cebu and Cantao-an, Naga City, Cebu. PSC's MD was led by Mr. Rene Verano, Jerry AƱos and Myrna Pitaluna. PSEFI was led by Dr. Maritess H. Requina, Executive Director, and Engr. Steve Y. Primary Homes, Inc. Organizes Home Run 2016 for the Benefit of PSEFI-SKILLS Scholars

Cebu Business Park, Cebu City --- Primary Homes, Inc. (PHI) did it again! Home Run 2016, the yearly fun run, dance and play event was a huge success staged last Saturday, April 23, 2016, with the whole Primary Group of Builders' (PGB) families gracing the event!  Home Run Participants were at Sumilon Road of the Cebu Business Park as early as 3:00 am to prepare for the 3K, 6K and 12K categories. Mr. Joel Baring, Race Organizer, gave a run-down of the different routes where the runners will pass soon after the Zumba Warm-Up Exercises were led by our friends from Slimmers World.  It was heart-warming to see so many young people and several small children joining the fun run with their parents, full-fledged PGB employees! The PGB Palaro 2016 was also launched during this year's Home Run.  During the Awarding Ceremonies, PSEFI-SKILLS' Executive Director, Dr. Maritess H.
